Daniel Rigby, Class of 2001

Daniel attended CHS in the 1990s where he developed a love and talent for the performing arts. He went on to study at RADA – one of the world’s most prestigious colleges of the dramatic arts.

Over the course of his career thus far, Daniel has had many noteworthy successes, including beating both Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch to be awarded the BAFTA for Best Actor in 2011 for his performance as late comedian Eric Morecambe in the film Eric and Ernie.

As well as his achievement on the big screen, Daniel has been praised for many of his performances in TV series such as Black Mirror on Netflix and Lilies on BBC, for roles he has undertaken on the stage including playing Alan Turing in Manchester Royal Exchange’s Breaking The Code and for success as a stand-up comedian.

You may also recognise Daniel from the long-running UK BT Broadband TV advertisement series: he plays Simon, the slightly eccentric (and sometimes slightly odd!) flatmate.
