Emily, Year 10

CHS Cricket is thriving.

Before Christmas, the School welcomed a former County Cricketer to its staff for the very first time and whilst the School’s boys’ teams continue to bring home plenty of silverware, girls cricket has really taken off. Co-Curricular sessions at CHS have a seen a significant rise in the number of females taking part and most recently, the School’s U15 Girls are Cheshire CB Indoor Champions after winning all 3 games in the tournament.

“I started playing cricket in the summer term of Year 7 and I immediately fell in love with the sport. The best thing about cricket at CHS is the level of coach commitment to a sport that isn’t traditionally a girls sport and also the facilities that are available to us are incredible. Pre-season cricket is such an important part of the season and I can’t wait to start playing cricket and working on techniques and shots that are new alongside other girls who enjoy the sport as much as I do. I think it’s important to have girls only cricket because it creates a much more welcoming environment for anybody that wants to start cricket or doesn’t want to be intimidated by the boys.”
