Lauren, Lower Sixth

As part of the School’s ongoing commitment to regular outreach projects, altruistic student Lauren has been heavily involved in building even stronger connections with the members of our local community through her charitable endeavours.

“Since joining CHS last April I’ve been really keen to get involved in the School’s altruistic endeavours. Giving back to the community is such an important part of life at CHS and really helps us appreciate how fortunate we are. At the Coffee and Carols event, headed up by Mrs Dunn, and supported by a Sixth Form committee, we invited over 70 elderly members of the local community to School for an afternoon of festive food, music and games. All attendees thoroughly enjoyed themselves and, thanks to the bountiful supply of presents donated by students and parents, were able to take a present home with them accompanied by a personalised card handmade by pupils in Year 7 and Year 8 during their peer mentoring sessions. It is amazing to see the School come together to participate in social action activities and I hope that through organising a range of different fundraising events we are demonstrating to other students that there are many ways in which they can make a positive difference to others.”
