Peter Bullock, former teacher

Peter joined the teaching staff of Cheadle Hulme School in 1970 and served the school and its students with distinction for 43 years. A member of staff in the Physics department, Peter influenced, educated and entertained many hundreds of young minds.

An Old Waconian from the Class of 1981, John Howarth, fondly remembers Mr Bullock as a teacher who “instil[ed] lifelong values and qualities into pupils…in a remarkable way with a special gift”.

Upon his retirement, The Peter Bullock Award was introduced for budding young physicists. The prize has been funded by a group of Old Waconians who wanted to commemorate Peter’s outstanding contribution to the School and is given to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to Physics and shown an interest beyond the syllabus. There have now been several years of the competition with the hopeful scientists of CHS impressing fellow students, parents and a panel of judges when competing for this prestigious prize.
